Writing your roots and rooting your writing: An interview with poet & author Amanda Spiller
I love writing but—and this may sound a little sacrilegious—I prefer talking. I want the words I write to be witnessed, to have life breathed into them.
That being said, I especially love witnessing the writing of others. Today’s episode arises from the great privilege given to me by a dear friend, former student, and fellow writer share her writing with me, and soon the world.
Amanda Spiller is joining us today for the first episode of season two ahead of the release of her book, “Laying Roots: Poems on Grief and Healing,” which comes out Saturday, October 1st, 2022.
In our conversation Amanda shares pieces from the book, dives deep into the writing process, and shares what it feels like to share such intimate writing with the world.
I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation and will check out Amanda’s book, which is available on October 1st.
